UL captain Reggy Masebe says Turfies ready to build momentum

University of Limpopo captain Reggy Kabelo Masebe has called on his teammates and supporters to remain confident as the side looks to turn around its fortunes and get a win under their belt.

Despite the early setback in round 1, Masebe says the squad remains united, energetic and ready to fight. He believes the team’s ability to create scoring opportunities provides reason for optimism, with improving their finishing now a key focus.

“It’s not about how you start, but it’s about how you finish,” highlighted Masebe, emphasising the winning mentality he wants the team to carry into the remaining matches.

The captain is encouraged by the response within the squad, saying players have been willing to acknowledge their mistakes and continue working rather than allowing the result to affect their morale. The team still believes it can reach the semi-finals and is determined to produce positive results in the matches ahead.

For the captain, the next match represents an important opportunity to build momentum, restore confidence and strengthen the connection between the team and its supporters. A victory, he believes, could bring renewed energy to the squad and supporters alike.

Masebe has also urged his teammates to maintain a strong mentality and remain focused throughout the remainder of the campaign.

“We have to have winning mentality, and we have to have strong mindset,” he said.

“It’s still early, our supporters must still have hope that we’re going to bring the results that they want.”

UL will return to action against Wits on 14 August 2026, with kick-off scheduled for 18:30 at Wits Stadium.
