UWC ready to build on first home win [video]

UWC captain Relebohile Matima says the team’s first home victory of the Varsity Football campaign has given the side a timely confidence boosts ahead of Friday’s clash against UL.

UWC secured a 3-2 victory over TUT last week, finally giving their home supporters something to celebrate after a challenging start to their campaign.

"Finally, we get a home win against TUT last week. Also, the fans were crying because they wanted goals, they wanted goals. So, it's good to finally get that home win,” says Matima.

With another home fixture on the horizon, Matima believes the victory can provide momentum as UWC look to strengthen their position ahead of the knockout stages.

"Going forward, this will boost our confidence towards this week's game, and we are playing at home, one last game home before the knockout games,” he said.

"So, the confidence is up with the boys, we're going to take it step by step."

The captain says the squad remains focused and grounded despite the positive result.

"We're going to push it down we're going to stay humble and put in the work."
