Defending champions UFS will be determined to get their 2026 Varsity Football campaign back on track when they face TUT in Round Two on Friday.

The Shimlas suffered a disappointing 4-2 defeat to UP-Tuks in their opening match at Shimla Park, despite taking a 2-1 lead into half-time. However, captain Jarome Jansen believes there is no reason for panic, with plenty of football still to be played.

"It was a pity we lost last week, but then we know that we still have six more games to play. So, it's up to us now to fix our mistakes and get ready for the next match of which is this week and get prepared,” said Jansen.

Jansen is also drawing motivation from last season, when UFS recovered from an early setback against UJ.

"Because we remember last season, we also lost our second game against UJ. So, we were able to bounce back from that game. And it's the same thing this year, but then it was our first game,” he said.

“And now we know what we have to fix. And I think it's a motivation itself going into the next game. We know our mistakes and we are ready and we'll fix whatever we are lacking in training this week"

UFS will now look to turn those lessons into action against TUT, with kick-off scheduled for 17:00 on Friday.
