Tuks relishing home final against Tshwane rivals TUT [VIDEO]

UP-Tuks winger Matome Rangata believes his side’s journey through a challenging Varsity Football 2026 campaign has made reaching the final even more special as they prepare to face TUT in an all-Pretoria showdown.

Tuks booked their place in the title decider after edging UJ 1-0 in the semi-final, setting up a highly anticipated clash against their Pretoria rivals.

"This season, I feel like we've been through a lot of highs and lows but eventually we managed to get through all the hardship and we made it to the final.”

Reflecting on the team’s journey, Rangata believes reaching the final is a fitting reward for their perseverance.

"In concluding the season with Tuks, I feel like it's been a nice story for us because we didn't think we'd have so many challenges along the way and by the end, here we are in the finals.

With the tournament derby now on the horizon, Rangata is relishing the occasion and hopes Tuks can finish their campaign with silverware.

"For me, it's always a pleasure to play the tournament derby. It's a game everyone would like to play. It is highly contested and I hope it lives up to how it always is. Hopefully we can get there and win it."
